Nats Funding

A National Championship should be self-funding. In fact, a Club holding such an event should see it as a means of raising club funds, i.e. the event should run at a profit.

Experience has shown that there are two crucuial steps that Nats Organizers should take to ensure a satisfactory financial outcome:

  1. They must prepare a budget.
  2. They must set entry fees at a realistic level

SAMAA has amoungst its members, a number of people who have wide experience in running Nats. The SAMAA Management Committee can refer propective Nats Organizers to such people for help, or give other guidance, if need be.

In unusual circumstances, Organizers may approach the SAMAA Management Committee for funding assistance.

Have a look at Evan Shaw's de-briefing note on the 2003 Gliding Nats. There are many general observations that might assist Nats Organisers....................new 10 may 03
