Apologies for late issue of minutes. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Minutes taken as read. Accepted without alterations. FINANCES LR presented comparison of income/expense figures with budget. No major. Subs arriving steadily. Scale Masters budget of R1 200 approved. SAFETY Manual of Procedures to CAA with necessary amendments. Immediate alteration of weight limit 30kg's. Safety rules from other associations as guide. Keith Nicolls offer accepted for looking at producing regulations. Unconfirmed use of 60MHz in KwaZulu Natal. DA to obtain details. ICASA promise of 4 extra spots end-April doubtful! Intense frustration at tardy implementation. Illegal crystals supplied by dealer north-Jhb. BS to investigate & write to ICASA. Report of flying activity at Muldersdrift, unregistered site. ADMINISTRATION Renewals arriving at steady rate. W/Cape joining rate high. Atlantic Flying Club members to join soon. Aero Club belly-up. Burt Botha nominated as F3A T/M. No objection from committee. Ratified. LARGE AIRCRAFT AND SCALE AEROBATICS Workshop on 21 Jan "at" Benoni RF vey successful. LSMAA keeping pace with IMAC. First comp = 18th Feb "at" Barnstormers. Interest from Nelspruit. Visit for Nats by TOC competitor Marco Benincasa (Italy) will further stimulate interest. FUN FLYING & PROFICIENCY First round posted. DA to re-look proficiency requirements (simplify, without downgrading status). Tests at Rosslyn. SOARING Postals for 2001 started. Soaring League also starting. Activity in other centres? HELICOPTERS LL tracked missing trophies. Proficiency specs still in progress. Nats in November planned, but rules must be formulated before SAC in July, and tested prior to Nats. SCALE Series for 2000/2001 finished. 11 qualifiers for Scale Masters. K Pretorius/G Roberts to organise. AMA (Stan Alexander) requested details of SA team selection, for US modification/adoption. CONTROL LINE No report. PYLON RACING 11 Feb meeting at Howick postponed to ¾ March. Interest in 2-pylon course in Natal. Practicality? Large scale races query. Spectacular but costly. Team selection provided two definite candidates. Third to be solicited, but not imperative. DISPLAYS No report. COMMUNICATIONS Stats show 600 unique visits per month, 400 new, 200 repeats. SAMAA to look at rules section on Web site, to be downloadable. PUBLIC RELATIONS No report GENERAL o Committee members to pursue idea of re-structuring SAMAA, for more representation in otherareas (like AMA, BMFA, and others). o Air Pageant for 2003. DA working on sponsorship proposal. Road shows "at" Ysterplaat, Swartkop. OC Swartkop approves, but skeptical about future of base. o Permission for float fly "at" Hartenbos river mouth o 35Mhz sticker for back of transmitters - design approved. To production. o Only one addition to FAI Judges register o Advice that cheques marked "not neg" are inferior to "not transferable". Banks not accepting cheques with tape/foil on face. JG cautions about high rate of cheque fraud. Write with laundry marker. o Standard form required to report interference to SAMAA/ICASA.
