JC gave telephonic report on progress of constitution. Next stage prepared and ready for distribution to rest of committee.

SAFETY Safety docs returned to J Ehlers, with comments. Johan to obtain comments from Joe, Dave and Ian. Safety is responsibility of clubs, and every member. SAMAA can only guide. Committee does not have manpower to policy safety issues, countrywide. 35MHz frequencies now available, except for few areas. Should be cleared by 30 June 2001. L Levin excused himself from meeting after outburst.

DA to investigate allegation of lower-priced radio sets being prone to interference. Could have safety implications.

ADMINISTRATION

Milestone in SAARF/SAMAA history – first time ever that membership count is over 2000. Trend may continue, but realistically it will reach saturation point. Much PR needed to sustain present trend. Steve Filby took questions on insurance issues. Will revert with answers for publication.

NATIONALS

Glider Nats very successful, enjoyable. Larger entry than 2000. Report for publication by JC.

SAMAA News. Closing date=20th June. 24-page issues now inevitable. Advertising rates to be increased.

Advertorial policy okay, for local industry boost. M van Breda letter to be published.

DISPLAYS. Static display in Pretoria to promote Swartkop. (Saturday 9 June).

AEROBATICS

Small Gauteng monthly at RMAC. Events in W Cape, Free State. No details received for Lowveld Championship. Regular events in E Cape. Scores slow in arriving from all centres.

LARGE AIRCRAFT AND SCALE AEROBATICS

Ian Edwards hospitalised presently. Prepared written report. All well with LSMAA. Large A/C comments to Johan (for Manual of Procedures). Bushveld Fly-in successful.

FUN FLYING & PROFICIENCY

Quiet time. Revised proficiency doc still needs attention (manoeuvre descriptions). Must be ratified at SAC before re-introduction.

SOARING

Telephonic report from JC indicated all under control. Karkloof F3J event in hand (23/24 June). Aerodynamics forum by John Monk to raise funds for F3B team. Raffle raised R1400.
