MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Distributed via e-mail to committee. All received, even if printing margins increased doc to two pages. Minutes approved without alteration.
FINANCES
LR produced financial statement. Advertising income picking up. Letterheads to LR to generate invoices. JE proposed funding for chair to Bureau meeting. Proposal carried. Discussion on kick-back to regional bodies. Linked to membership numbers. Regions to revert with proper reporting, accounting, communication. JG reported on proposal to farm out SAMAA admin. Quite costly, and fear that remote handling may lose us members. LR indicated imminent resignation need to look at appointing part-time membership secretary/treasurer to take over duties. BS and LR to meet to determine remuneration of such person. Advertised in SAMAA News.
CONSTITUTION
JC supplied next series of clauses for constitution. All to study.
SAFETY Full-size helis at NERF registrations needed. Article in S News warning of dangers of cell-phone use next to R/C equipment. Off-road Club of SA using top-end of 35Mhz band for transmissions. Happy to vacate, since they are using these illegally!
ADMINISTRATION
All in hand. Query on registration status of Silverton. Nothing received to date. BS obtained coordinates. Old Skyhawks club resurrected as BARRF. Durban Deep re-located to Ruimsig.
NATIONALS
Initial planning for Bloemfontein R/C Nats in hand. More discussion with D Cranke at Aerobatic Masters.
SAMAA News.
Closing date for next issue=20 OCTOBER! All to respond with articles. Mention in S.News whether Web download or hard copies preferable. JG to correct club registrations.
DISPLAYS.
No report. Bruno indicated desire to resign, but will find suitable replacement.
AEROBATICS
All in hand for SA Masters 22 qualifiers. Budget approved. Traditionally, entry fee levied to cover costs of judges. Successful Gauteng Championship, but poor sportsmanship showing. Resulted from family member judging.
LARGE AIRCRAFT AND SCALE AEROBATICS
9 Sept event had 12 fliers. All in hand for TOC 6/7 October at RMAC. Some new aircraft. Knowns (70% weighting) and Unknown schedules (30%) to be flown, unlimited only. Last event for season. Oudtshoorn apparently successful, but lower attendance.
FUN FLYING & PROFICIENCY
No report. Two letters of complaint regarding miscommunication and apparent bad handling of Fun Fly results. Extensive discussion. Committee acknowledges there may have been poor communication, but no acts in bad faith, or deliberate attempts to exclude participants. However, communication MUST be jacked-up so that all parties are aware of requirements. Event to go ahead as scheduled would be unfair to other participants if status altered, or event cancelled.
SOARING - No report.
HELICOPTERS - No formal report.
SCALE
Quiet time. No events in October. Gauteng third round windy! BS to query composition of international judge panels for next W/C, at CIAM Bureau meeting. CAN judges proposed for both static and flying. RSA and FIN judges dont feature on static panels!
CONTROL LINE
Judges instruction by Keith Renecle very successful. Lower average scores more realistic. F2B team selected G Swallow (also T/M), K Renecle, L Nell. Junior is Callum Orbell. J Rowland re-located. K Renecle not SAMAA member during selection process. GS to mention. (Event is in Sebnitz, Germany 2002). Team ratified.
PYLON RACING
October event postponed to Nov. Interest low presently.
