WELCOME

Chairman welcomed all present.

FINANCE

LR detailed income statement and balance sheet. Allocations seem fine. Explanations can be given of breakdowns at AGM, if questions arise. Overpayment to Aero Club. BS/LR to get figures to Aero Club for cheque. Expenses of DA to CIAM meeting approved. DA to investigate debt of Panasonic. Invoice sent to AMS Process Control for 12-month overdue account. Query raised with Aero Club for ad-hoc grant: money available. However, Mike van Ginkel denies any mention to chairman of development grant. Cheque to F3A team fund (R6 000) issued during month.

Appreciation to Lesley for finances. SAMAA looking much better than last year this time, and considerably better than 2 years ago. Finances now available to undertake projects like constitution, stickers, etc. BS and LR to draw up budget for 99/2000 for approval at AGM. Honoraria to be reviewed (treasurer, secretary, newsletter editor) after AGM.

ADMINISTRATION

All under control. 50 new members since last month. Problems with Post Office continue unabated (JG and Dylan Roberts newsletters returned as "undelivered". Two of many cases!). Chairman’s report for next issue of SAMAA News focused on non-SAMAA member/clubs.

NATIONALS

Power: RMAC held first meeting. Looking at large sponsorship, to invite prominent international fliers.

SAMAA NEWS

No report.

AEROBATICS

Correspondence with Ron Chidgey. Eastern Cape very active. Gauteng comp had smallish entry. Interest high but activity not.

LARGE SCALE AEROBATICS

New IMAC schedules flown. AGM elected Mike Poezyn as new chairman. Next comp at NERF 20 June. 5 Large scale fliers at Umhlanga airshow (non-SAMAA club!) Bushveld Fly-in will see a few L/S participants.

SOARING

No report. DA mentions availability of 35 MHz freq. For W/C. Large chunk possible, with few exceptions.

FUN-FLY

90 participants after Rd 2. Scores for round 2 in 3rd round sent. New faces at top. Masters first weekend in Sept at Welkom MAC.

SCALE

First round of Series flown. Western Cape waking up (should have been flown in May). Nine fliers in Bloemfontein – two warring squadrons amalgamated! Eastern Cape also active (10 static – 5 flown). Jets issue discussed. Proposal at AGM expected for inclusion at 2000 Nats.

CONTROL LINE

No report.

PYLON RACING

Start of 99/00 season delayed to 26/27 June. F3D team departs Tuesday 6th July.

DISPLAYS

Bruno tabled list of display pilots. All committee members to check and comment by next meeting. Info document to all pilots. Bruno to visit Bushveld fly-in.

PROFICIENCY

Latest prof & safety document sent to all clubs. Kimberley proficiency tests in August? Badges to be sourced (Compass Crafts?).

COMMUNICATIONS

Not much to report. JG to visit Pietersburg fly-in.

GENERAL

Constitution meeting scheduled after AGM. Changes at Special GM later in year. Southern Soaring Club lost Common as flying site. Ysterplaat and CTI responsible. Swartkop Scale 99 in hand. DA to contact BS for signs.
