Hi, from Senekal travelling east approx. 5 km is the turning to the right to Rosendal. It is about 30- 35 km to Rosendal, turn left into Rosendal, the road turns 90 to the right, first turn to the left( I think it is Van Der Merwe street}. !00 m to a stop, over the stop until you pass a café on your right, turn right, you will see it is a double dirt road, take the left side and this road will take you past the old Municipal Buildings ( now a school ) and out of Rosendal. This is a dirt road for about 19 km to the farm gate on your right ( gate should be sign posted ). From the gate work your way up the farm, you will see the way as a few of us will have used the farm road by then. Hope this of use. Wally Crichton
Some comments by Hugh on the camping facilities etc.
Rosendal slope campsite is on top of the mountain and the only facilities are what we take with us. We usually have several families camping in tents, back of Combies Vans etc, but most bring caravans. We camp in a larger type set up and every one shares tables, washing, cooking facilities etc. We try to put up a large tent in the middle and it is used as the main eating, socializing ,(late nite tall story chat center). Some family groups set up their own camp on the edge, we are there for a relaxing weekend and to enjoy the flying and social interaction with other modelers. So you are welcome to do your own thing. We put up a primitive shower with a tent (Open to the sky), around it with a gas heater so a hot shower is possible, a bit chilly if the wind blows but it does work and the womenfolk (not all) make use of the shower when the wind is calm. There is a toilet seat set up in the trees about 150 m from the camp but it is a bit primitive for some folk but quite pleasant with a great view! Maybe some one has a better idea or plan for some type of portable toilet for the bosses but Rosendal is a bit far away from any big center to hire a mobile toilet. For the people who do not want to rough it Nebo is a holiday resort about an Hour's drive (A Slow drive on dirt roads) I am sure Ricky will put details on MGASA for those who want to phone and book. Cooking is mostly done on gas cookers, braais etc as fire is a real danger with lots of grass and strong winds a bad combo, we usually have a few fire extinguishers handy. Bring drinking water. Cheers Hugh
