(Note, this is not a SAMAA registered field, so SAMAA members will not be covered by insurance when flying here)
It is some 38 km from Bredasdorp.
Go past the Bredasdorp police station, cross the road going to Arniston, and take the road to Struisbaai/Agulhas (past the BP garage).
Just follow the road, drive straight thru Struisbaai until you get a large 3 story "house of stone" next to the road on the right (about 4 km from Struisbaai). Carry on for another 200 m and look for a white, dirt road on the right.
Take this road to the top of the hill (about 1,5 km). Just be careful, you can slope soar on the speed humps too - they are beeeeg...) You can get there by car (i.e. VW POLO).
On top of the hill, drive past a little green building, park & fly.
There are ample parking space on the hill and you can basically fly from the car. The view is amazing - it looks out over the southernmost tip of Africa.
I normally fly on the ridge from just past this little green building onwards to the higher hill some 1 km away. The best site is just past the little green thing.
Some areas are a bit bushy (1,2m high), especially towards the higher hill and you can have an exiting time looking for your plane should it go down there - use an audio locater.
Any type of glider/soarer/pss will work. For close in stuff I use a BULLET, FOOM DELTA, modified Yellow Bird (electric) and a Middle Phase. You can thermal from there (towards the lighthouse below) and I use an Aquila.
There are a number of small buck up there which are quite tame - please do not disturb them. You may find lynx up there too (in the bushy area). Need not to worry, they are not the man eating type..... Proof - I'm still alive and well.......
As said, the wind has to be southerly otherwise it is no good. Best is to give me a call beforehand (details below) or get the weather from web (Agulhas lighthouse - some 200 m from me) at:
